Electric motors for your electric car

When selecting an electric car motor you have two choices. DC or AC electric motors. DC motors are powered by Direct Current (a battery is an example of direct current) you will need to find what is called a series wound DC Motor. Most DC motors operate from 96 to 192 volts.

AC Motors work off of Alternating Current. AC motors suitable for an electric car are usually three-phase 240VAC types, requiring a 300 volt battery pack.

DC motors have advantages over AC motors in cost and battery pack voltages. Since the DC motor runs at a lower voltage than the AC motor you can use the 6 volt golf cart style of battery. They do require more current than their AC counterparts but the 6v battery happens to have the best capacity rating so this should not be a problem. AC motors, although costing more, do have distinct advantages over the DC motor. For one, they can use the back emf from the motor while the car is braking to recharge the batteries. This causes the AC motor to be more efficient Although they require a higher battery pack voltage, around 300 volts, they use less current than the DC motor and therefore can use the lower capacity 12 volt batteries for their battery pack.

Both types of motors need a motor controller to operate, and once again due to the complexities involved, an AC motor controller is much more expensive than a comparable DC motor controller. Many times you can find very inexpensive sources of motors by shopping around. Due to regular maintenance schedules many industrial areas will have businesses that throw out working motors on a routine basis, which could be a gold mine if you can find and talk to the right person in charge.

Another great source is eBay. Just go to eBay and do a search for DC or AC motor, and you will find many sources to choose from. When selecting an electric car motor you need to do your homework. Many factors come into play such as cost, type of car you are converting, and don’t forget about how much space you have under the hood. Proper planning goes a long way for a successful electric car conversion.

Is Synthetic Motorcycle Oil Worth It In My Motorcycle

You know the drill, every six months, three thousand miles (or so) you trudge in to your mechanic or auto parts store to get an oil change. Whether you change your oil yourself of have a mechanic do it chances are you have wondered if synthetic motorcycle oil is worth the extra cost.

Many people swear by synthetic motorcycle oil, and others stick to conventional oil because of habit or price, and while no one choice is best for every person and every motorcycle there are some definite advantages to synthetic motorcycle oil you may not have considered.

One of the first considerations when deciding between synthetic motorcycle oil and conventional oil is how often you will have to change your motor oil. If you use conventional oil and change it at the recommended intervals consistently, your motorcycle probably will not suffer any ill effects. However, if you often go much longer than the recommended interval before changing conventional oil your motorcycle may suffer because if it.

Synthetic motorcycle oil can keep your motorcycle protected longer than conventional oil and this is one of the advantages. Synthetic motorcycle oil takes longer to break down than conventional oil which makes it last longer between changes. If you change your oil regularly conventional oil will not have time to break down but if you don’t, synthetic oil may be a better choice for you because you can go longer between changes without worrying about damage to your engine. Synthetic motorcycle oil will provide adequate lubrication longer than the normal three thousand miles that conventional oil provides.

Because synthetic oil lasts longer it can also offer one more advantage over conventional oil in the long run, and that is price. While synthetic oil costs more than conventional oil so you will pay more per change, the fact that you can go twice as long or even more between changes means that you will be paying less over the life of your motorcycle if you go with synthetic oil. The price savings and longer performance are what influences many people to use synthetic motorcycle oil. I change the oil and filter on my motorcycle at the beginning of the riding season every year and I’m set for the entire year.

Changing your oil, no matter what type you use, is an important part of your motorcycle’s maintenance. Oil lubricates your engine and also contains abrasives which must be removed at regular intervals to keep your bike running in top condition.

If these advantages are important to you then synthetic motorcycle oil is the best choice for you.

If these advantages are important to you then synthetic motorcycle oil is the best choice for you.

Cool 250cc Motor Scooters

You’ve wanted one and now is the time. You need some cheap wheels because you are sick of paying $50 every time you go to the gas station to fill up your car. Well, scooters are a great alternative, especially the 250cc scooter. The great thing about these is that they can pretty much go as fast as a motorcycle, yet they are a lot easier to handle. It takes the intimidation factor away immediately.

Here are some of the most popular 250cc scooters out there:

Honda
Though they are one of the most popular scooter makers, they do not have one in this class. You would have to go with the small SH150i or the much larger 600cc Silver Wing.

Kymco
The GrandVista 250 has a 4 stroke engine and you can expect to pay in the mid $4000 range. The one thing this model does not feature that others do is fuel injection.

Vespa
The GTS 250 is the more affordable version ($6000) and the GVT 250 is the high end model ($7000+) because of its old school looks. Both feature a 4 stroke, liquid cooled engine with electronic fuel injection.

United Motors
At just over $2000, the Expressway 250 comes at the most affordable option in this category. It still has a 4 stroke liquid cooled engine, so if you are on a tight budget make sure you take a long hard look at the Expressway. It has great value and power for the money.

Cheetah
The Cheetah Touring 250 is a very popular model that comes in at around the $3000 mark. Not bad for this size scooter. No fuel injection, but it can still move pretty fast.

Yamaha
Yamaha has a one called the Roketa MC-54-250, not exactly the best name, but a good set of wheels nonetheless. They say it tops out at 85 mph and is priced around $2000.

What else is fun to drive, can go 80 mph, and get 80 mpg? I’ll tell you right now that there is no car that can. So if you are in the market for a new vehicle, take a quick look at the 250cc scooter market. They may give you the affordability and efficiency you are looking for.

Learn About Rc Cars

RC is used to describe remote control and radio controller. Remote controlled cars first came about the 1960s. The first produced cars that went on sale were by an Italian company Giocattoli Elettronica (El-Gi). The first car that went on sale was the Ferrari 250LM. The cars were imported to Britain and were available to the public in December 1966.

The 70s saw more companies jump on the band wagon including the British company Mardave which produced and sold nitro or gas powered cars to the locals in Leicester in the early 70s. The technology evolved and engines went from single to double-piston and then in 1974 the very first electric remote controlled cars hit the stores.

The 80s saw an explosion of these cars and more people cottoned on to them and bought them. The technology was evolving all the time with companies producing newer models with advanced components, offering more speed and better control. Enthusiasts would join organized races and the hobby was at its most popular. It was in the 1990s when to top cars were so expensive many enthusiasts when back to racing in car parks and waste land. This was the time when companies brought out miniature cars. The sizes were on a scale of 1/10 to 1/12 to 1/18.

Today developments of RC cars include models which can perform stunts like real cars. You can create your very own bespoke car, choose the tires, choose the fuel and choose the colour, anything you want. They are still very popular and enthusiasts can still go on organized races if they want. You can buy them in any toy shop or online stores. Enthusiasts can join online communities and social networking sites where they can meet and arrange races with other like minded people. You can even get remote control helicopters.

The great thing about these cars or any remote controlled toy is that they are fun for all types of people and ages. Young boys love cars and planes so of course young boys are going to love them, but they are great for adults from all races that want to explore the child within them.

When buying one you should consider what you want to use if for and how experienced you are. If youre a beginner you dont want to spend a lot of money on a nice shinny car because it looks good, you really need to invest in one that is designed for the beginner.

Heritage Motors Customer Testimonial

Are looking to buy a used car or truck? My name is John Sellers and I recently had the pleasure of buying a used car and truck from Steve Curry at Heritage Motors in Medford Oregon.

We moved back to the valley in August of 2009 after leaving in 1983. I was in the need of a truck for my construction business that I could use to drive to and from job sites and to do hauling with. I was referred to Steve at Heritage by multiple members of my family. In the last 20 years they had bought over 10 cars from him.

Visiting the lot came with the normal trepidation that comes with buying a car. However, I was very comfortable with Steve and told him what I was looking for and that I was prepared to spend about $16,000. After carefully listening to me, he recommended that I get two vehicles. One would be a work truck that was older so I did not have to worry about it getting scratched and that would have great hauling power. The other would be a more comfortable car for driving around town.

I loved the idea, but the first words out of my mouth were “I am not spending more then $16,000!” Steve said with a smile on his face “John, if you like the car & truck that I am thinking about, you will spend less than $13,000”.

Well, needless to say, I got a great deal on two vehicles and I spent less than $12,500. The truck is an F250 that is a real work horse and the car is a Jeep Cherokee. It has been 4 months and having both vehicles has worked out even better than expected. In fact, my wife likes the Jeep so much that she is making me drive her Suburban!

I highly recommend that if you are thinking about buying a used car or truck from a dealer in Southern Oregon that you visit Steve Curry at Heritage Motors in Medford. Please let him know I recommended him.

Speech Therapy Activities For Children With Speech and Motor Apraxia

There is only one effective way to get children actively involved with speech and motor Apraxia, and this is by engaging them in fun speech therapy activities. However, before you even begin to help your child with language articulation activities, you have to be in the right frame of mind.

It would be counter-productive if you are stressed, impatient, and thinking of other things at the same time. Thus, for the language activities to work out well between you and your child learn to set aside a specific time that’s just for this purpose. Make it a date between you and your child and treat the time as special bonding hour that will create beautiful memories for you and your child.

Here are some fun language therapy activities that you can start under the supervision of a qualified therapist, and then branch out on your own at home. Remember what the purpose for the language activities are, focus on that, and not just having fun. Also do not be a stickler for how long your child should be doing the activity, otherwise it becomes a chore instead, and he will not be motivated to do it again.

Speech Therapy Activities Part 1

Using PECS or Picture Exchange Communications System uses pictures as an alternative way of communicating with your child. Naturally, you will need some practice with this because for a child, a picture of a sandwich could mean he’s hungry but not necessarily for a sandwich.

You can go around the house tagging items with a picture and the word spelled out. Eventually, from practice, your child will recognize the word and not just the picture. By then you can take away the pictures and just have word tags.

Speech Therapy Activities Part 2

Use of music to teach pacing and pauses between words. The music therapy is a great way to introduce sounds and how they can be used. It works in conjunction with language therapy activities in many instances because of its universal appeal. There are special CDs for young children with Apraxia that you can buy as part of your language therapy activities at home.

With singing, children with Apraxia can enjoy speech therapy activities by learning how to elongate their vowels.

Speech Therapy Activities Part 3

Why not play Go Fish or the Memory Game using cards as your game tools. Cards are very good as part of your speech therapy activities as well as in helping develop dexterity and hand-eye coordination. These are just 3 language therapy activities that you can do without special tools. It will not work though if you do it a couple of times a month.

There has to be some form of schedule, 5 to 10 minutes a day, to make it work.

Essential learning about induction motors – basics of AC drives and VFD

PID controller – a PID is the most commonly used feedback controller. A PID controller calculates an “error” value as the difference between a measured process variable and a desired set point. The Pid controller attempts to minimize the error by adjusting the process control inputs. The PID controller calculation involves three separate constant parameters, and is accordingly sometimes called three-term control: the proportional, the integral and derivative values, denoted P, I, and D. .

Auto tune controller – Auto tune controller provide economical control for a wide variety of processes, including heating, cooling, and heat/cool. When auto tune controller is used with the proper transmitters, these devices can also control pressure, flow, humidity, motion, or pH. The front panel is NEMA 2, 3R, and 12 rated for waterproof protection and are corrosion resistant. The sophisticated design of auto tuner controller incorporates the latest microprocessor and surface mount technology, compressing an unprecedented number of standard features into a compact 1/16 DIN package. The user can program control functions from the front panel; input types are DIP switch selectable. Multiple tuning modes allow the user to select from 3 standard tuning presets, manual tuning, or auto tuning.

Electronic motor drives into two categories: AC and DC. A motor drive controls the speed, torque, direction and resulting horsepower of a motor. A DC drive typically controls a shunt wound DC motor, which has separate armature and field circuits. AC drives control AC induction motors, and-like their DC counterparts-control speed, torque, and horsepower. A VFD controls the speed, torque and direction of an AC Induction motor. If you are not using VFD you are wasting energy and throwing money out the window. An AC drive may be considered by them as the variable frequency inverter and motor combination. It may even include the motor’s pulley.People in the electrical field and electrical suppliers usually refer to a variable frequency inverter unit alone, or an SCR power module alone (when discussing DC drives) as the “drive” and the motor as the “motor”. Manufacturers of VFD used to refer to the drive as an “adjustable speed AC drive”. To make matters worse when a motor is included in the package it may be referred to as an “adjustable speed AC drive system”.

A VFD is an adjustable speed drive. Adjustable speed drives include all types; mechanical and electrical. About AC drives, the main power components of an AC drive have to be able to supply the required level of current and voltage in a form the motor can use. The controls have to be able to provide the user with necessary adjustments such as minimum and maximum speed settings, so that the drive can be adapted to the user’s process.

Injection Moulding Controller – Manufacturers of Injection Moulding Controller provide total closed loop control for any Injection molding controller.
